The Free Government Phones is a Federal Communications Commission program that helps ensure households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more. It provides discounts on monthly internet service and devices.

Households qualify if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if they participate in certain assistance programs like SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, Federal Public Housing Assistance, SSI, Veterans Pension, Lifeline, or others.

Eligible households can receive up to $30 per month toward internet service ($75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands) and a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet.

Many major internet service providers participate in the Free Government Phones, including Xfinity, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and many local providers. You can choose from participating providers in your area after you're approved.
